This weekend Rabbit Hole Industries headed to Chicago in search of materials, to do "research" and of course to relax a bit. I have to admit, all those naysayers asking me "why the hell would you go to Chicago in February" are absolutely right. It's freaking cold in this town. But, there are some seriously awesome consignment, secondhand and vintage shops. I perused the shops on Armitage Ave while my loving husband held court at a nearby bar named "Boston Blackies." Really? We're in a new city with lots of watering holes and you pick the joint with Boston in the name? I met him there after my many purchases and the bartender started chatting us up and asked us where we were from. "Massachusetts," I replied. There was no way I was admitting that I was actually from Boston, I made it sound like I was from a town in the Berkshires on the New York border and had never heard of the place.
Anyway, the shopping. I have two words to describe the treasures I found - MARC JACOBS. I love Marc Jacobs and apparently so do Chicago chics, or maybe they don't like him and that's why he ends up in a consignment store, you can look at it either way. I chatted up a lovely lady at one of the shops who had just moved from Boston to open the consignment store I was in - verrrry interesting! Oh, and for the record Boston Blackies was not her favorite neighborhood bar. Anyway, I'm off to research which new outfit I should wear tonight.

My bestest pal is also my first official consignor - and she even traveled on the infamous Fung Wa to hand deliver me her fancy frocks. In her bag of goodies - a brand new BCBG giant burnt orange leather hobo bag with a $500 price tag still on it, a super fresh blush pink and gold lace wrap by Cory Lynn Calter, a shamrock green Banana Republic Monogram dress - pair it with a skinny belt and flat gold sandals, and a pair of fab Anne Klein pumps. Soon to be available on rhishop.com. Can't wait -shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm off to Chi-town to see how they do consignment in the Midwest, stay tuned.

So, the Olympics have been going on for some time now, but tonight the real competition starts - women's figure skating! I know, I'm lame. I've probably seen The Cutting Edge about 4,000 times, everytime it's on TBS I can't pull myself away. DB Sweeney in spandex, come on, how can you resist. With Michelle Kwan retired and becoming a Jumbo we have new Americans to watch. I don't think the U.S. will grab the gold this year, but you can wear gold in the form of a Rabbit Hole headband, soon to be available on rhishop.com!

It was photo shoot night tonight for Rabbit Hole Industries. It's all about who you know sometimes - my martini pouring late nights in the North End certainly scored us a great in at the Artmosphere Art Gallery. Check out the shots! Special thanks to Cafe Graffiti and Nick Varano's Famous Deli.

This past weekend the Rabbit Hole team continued our hunt for vintage jewels to deconstruct, recycle, reuse and revive. The road to creating glamorous items sometimes takes you to some very unglamorous places. This weekend I found some chic pieces at a sale at a random smelly church basement. But there was that one hot find at a fabulous estate (sale.) Check out this weekend’s creations! Soon to be available on rhishop.com.

Nope – not here. Not, in snowy Beantown! It’s Fashion Week in the city that never sleeps. The city where the skyscrapers saturate the sky, the bars aren’t lame, and the fashionistas outnumber the hipsters. So, if you’re like the rest of us and don’t have a seat under the tents at Bryant Park for the 2010 runway shows – you’re in luck. According to NYDN Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein and Alexander Wang will be streaming their fashion shows live on the interwebs!!! I guess Rabbit Hole will have a front row seat after all.

This past weekend I drove the Toyota north to Portland, ME in search of inspiration, motivation and materials for Rabbit Hole Industries. I bonded with the owner of Encore – an amazing vintage shop in downtown Portland. We sifted through vintage Halston together while she told me tales of Hermes crocodile bags, one of a kind sable mink coats and funky jewelry made of platinum and Waterford crystals. It was one of the more heavenly hours of my life. I think I became drunk on couture and fur (not faux - gasp!) because when she shared with me her exhaustion with the vintage life I offered to buy her store. She said she’d call me in two years, I better start saving.
