Hawking Haute Headbands
Our hair gear was a hit at the SLAM market. And the foam head hit it out of the park with the under-10 crowd. One of the tots even made her mother "feel the foam head." Overall it was a good day - we met some fellow artisans, we sold some merch, we were offered some illegal substances - kidding. Actually, I'm not kidding. And yes, we declined. If you can't make it to one of our events be sure to check out our selection on Etsy.

The Glamorous Life
So, like I told you in previous blogs we experienced our first “craft fair” situation last weekend. I don’t think we’ll really end up on the craft circuit – we were clearly rookies in this group of handy housewives. Mid-morning we got wind that there was a “vendors lounge” full of refreshments, treats and other obviously really VIP stuff. I told the group I’d go check it out and bring back some exclusive goodies. Let me set the scene: This craft show was being held in a middle school that had seen better years. The “lounge” was actually a rundown old teacher’s room – you know the ones that always had some random orange chair and plaid couch in it. It looked like the sort of place teachers would go in 1965 to rip Benson and Hedges into weird ashtrays. I walk in – and thankfully I’m the only one there. I see a random assortment of packaged convenience store baked goods tossed on a round table and a Styrofoam cooler of non-brand name water. I grab one and just as I’m about to take a sip - the door SLAMS open. In stumbles the Easter Bunny – no really. And he was a Westgate Mall 1987 style Easter Bunny. So, the Easter bunny careens through the door, trips over a recycle bin and does a face plant on the nasty carpet. His head falls off and reveals a super embarrassed middle school boy; I nearly started choking on my Enterman’s mini muffin.

Things Not to Do in the Pouring Rain...
#1 - Run an organized race that you signed up for and paid money to run. Today was pretty miserable, but... I have to admit it was actually kind of fun. The absurdness of running through flooded streets in the pouring pounding rain all in the sake of St. Patrick's Day? Running and St. Patrick's day are usually two things I'd put on my dislike list - well maybe today changed that, just a little. Kerry was a trooper and joined me in sporting a Rabbit Hole Industries headband through the sopping streets of Somerville.

Oh Etsy
I was avoiding her for so long. I said to myself and out loud - "why would I want to compete with a thousand other twenty-something dreamers selling handmade headbands?" Well - maybe so people could buy them before I'm brick and mortar or officially on the worldwide web...silly rabbit. I mean you've listened to me yammer on about these headpieces for so long, we put a smattering of our selection up on the page. So, if you want a Rabbit Hole Industries headband check out our Etsy page at - http://www.etsy.com/shop/RabbitHoleIndustries

The Worst Little Warehouse in Boston
I am inundated with fashion marketing emails all day, Rue La La, Gilt, Rent the Runway, HauteLook, Shop it to me, Refinery 29 – the list goes on and on. Recently, one of the emails promoted the Warehouse Sample Sale in Boston – I’ve heard of it before, never experienced it. But, I’m a sucker for a sale. I’ve dragged my best bud to the 6th floor of random buildings in desolate nyc neighborhoods to find weird sample sales for fleeting French brands I read about on the internet. Anyway, I checked out the Warehouse sale in Boston. It was awful; they played old Louie Devito techno and sold clothes Snooki would’ve been fist pumping her way all the way to the register about. I’m not going to lie though – I bought two things. Like I said, I’m a sucker for a sale.
You Know You Want It
I’m quite a fan of a little show called Gossip Girl – back this week on the CW. Some may say it’s just another unrealistic teen drama, and they may be absolutely right, save for 2 points – 1) the dialogue is hilarious, and 2) the fashion is phenomenal. Eric Daman has done for Gossip Girl what Patricia Field did for Sex and the City. Fashion is just another character on the show. Now that the world has finally moved on from Carrie, Cosmopolitans, Cougars and Jimmy Choos it’s time we focus on headbands, underage drinking and of course - the young fresh fashion worn on the show, like – Blumarine, Moschino, Philip Lim, etc. Take this tour of the gossip girl costume closet!

Vintage - Through the Eyes of the Fab Felicia
The pics above (model is Jennifer Jimenez) come from my fabulous friend Felicia Carr who happens to be an aspiring Art Director at Miami Ad School, read: cooler than any school I've ever been to. So when she's not hitting South Beach she's dreaming up (and producing) striking advertisments like the ones above.
Vintage is hot. It's everywhere, it's on red carpets, it's on Gilt Groupe, it's even hitting neighborhood stores near you. Forget the old, people want to make the old new again. There is nowhere that vintage is hotter than at the Oscars, and this Sunday it's time to see what celeb stylist Rachel Zoe got her hands on. Rachel's favorite vintage place to get her classic couture is Decades in lovely Los Angeles. A few years back I was lucky enough to attend a trunk show for Decades hosted by a sassy Boston socialite which featured the Decades owner Cameron Silver. I pretty much cowered in the corner sipping lychee martinis while the Brahmin's considered Chanel. But, never was in such awe of the clothing around me. Vintage my friends, is where it's at.
